“CBD was a life changer for me. I know that every time I take my CBD oil I help my body by relieving pain and inflammation” ~Mari
Well over 35 years ago I came down with what now is known as Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Back in the day it wasn’t recognized nor was there a diagnosis for this autoimmune disease. My medical evaluations were directed towards mental illness. At that time I only had male doctors. Their bedside manner was lacking empathy. They and their staff looked at me as a woman needing attention. I did need attention but not the kind that they so condescendingly suggested.
I was in my early twenties. I had never been sick before. After the birth of my daughter, two weeks later to be exact, I came down with the detrimental symptoms of chronic fatigue. I couldn’t hold my newborn daughter nor take care of my three year old son. I couldn’t feed them nor feed myself. I couldn’t do anything for my children. I depended 100% on my family especially on my mother. She and God literally saved my life.
I call this a long journey because that’s what it’s been, a painful and some days very discouraging journey but very enlightening and educating. I’ve discovered on my own, ways to improve my health and help others.
The medical profession has never failed to let me down. I’ve had to do my own research for over 35 years. I’ve tried many different kinds of supplements, most of which have been wonderful and have allowed me to arrive at this juncture.
For those who suffer from Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I’m sure that you’re very aware that every day brings a different symptom. Just when you have one symptom under control another one manifests itself. It’s a continuation, a never ending battle to keep your life functioning.
My life’s mission has become an ongoing quest to stay healthy. Staying active with good nutrition, regular exercise and keeping stress as low as possible is the only way that people with Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are able to move forward and find joy in their lives.
I’ve listed my symptoms because you can sympathize with others when you know you’re not alone.
- Migraine sinus headaches
- Nerve pain on my neck, shoulders, arms, back and joints
- Irritable bowel syndrome/IBS
- Vision problems
- Neurological problems
- Equilibrium problems
- Left eye pain and twitching
- Left side facial twitching
- Cognitive problems
- Food allergies
- Environmental allergies
- Sudden Hearing Loss/Vestibular Disorder
This one became the crown jewel of all my symptoms. Sudden Hearing Loss happened to me over three years ago. I woke up with vertigo, vomiting and unable to walk. I thought I was having a stroke. I wasn’t diagnosed with hearing loss at the emergency room nor with my primary doctor.
My medical providers told me that I had crystals that had dislodged in my inner ear and that I would be okay. That wasn’t the case. Rather it was only the beginning of a two month long struggle to find what had happened to me and how to fix it. With sudden hearing loss, I also lost the ability to walk on my own, due to the loss of equilibrium. This disorder comes with extreme anxiety and social anxiety. I experienced overwhelming anxiety when I was in any large space like a grocery store or a large shopping center.
When you lose hearing your brain tries to find the lost signal and creates another; tinnitus. For those of you that don’t know what tinnitus is, it’s a screeching, humming or like a loud horn sounding in your ear or both ears. This can drive you insane. The suicide rate is very high for people with severe tinnitus.
I believe that most, if not all of my symptoms, were directly related to this autoimmune disease, Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and or the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). The Autonomic Nervous System is the part of the nervous system responsible for control of the bodily functions not consciously directed, such as breathing, the heartbeat and digestive processes. The dysfunctioning of the Autonomic Nervous System is commonly referred to as “Weird Symptoms”. By far the sudden hearing loss was the worst event. This was mostly because of the lack of understanding from my medical doctors. They misdiagnosed what had happened to me. My husband and I were left alone to figure it out.
My anxiety level was so debilitating that going to rehab was virtually impossible. That’s when my son first suggested that I should try CBD tinctures, oils and creams. What a wonderful difference CBD made in my life. I remembered how much CBD had helped my mother during her cancer treatments.
I was able to regain my stability through the use of CBD. It helped me control my anxiety. I could focus and have clarity. It allowed me to learn how to walk on my own again and control my eye movements. The CBD greatly helped me attend my neuro therapy sessions. With the use of a tinnitus therapy hearing aid my hearing has habituated. My tinnitus now is mostly under control.
The true key to my recovery was the love and attention that my wonderful husband and my extended family have given me throughout my health issues and my life’s trials. We all need someone to stand by us to be successful in any venture especially one that involves health. I’ve been able to come back to the living, as I call it. I attribute my recovery to God, my loving husband, my wonderful mother, siblings, my son and to my daughter.
CBD was a life changer. I made it my mission to develop something that would bring me instant pain relief from the discomforts of fibromyalgia. I don’t do well with Pharmaceuticals. I’ve always been a micro-doser. Most prescription medications never settled well in my stomach. I had to realize that when I decided to go the natural healing route it takes a bit longer. I’ve had to be patient. In the meanwhile, I know that every time I take my CBD oil I help my body by relieving inflammation.
I share my story because I believe that there is hope for those who suffer with any of these symptoms. I have found that there are ways to not only manage my life but also to have joy in living and staying active. I have a beautiful family, a wonderful husband, children and grandchildren. I want to enjoy them, be part of their lives, enjoy activities and the richness of life for as long as possible without pain or anxiety.
